History of the Association
GADRA – the Griffith Avenue Residents’ Association was founded in 1974 for the purpose of representing the interests of residents of the c.800 households along the avenue and adjacent roads, and has operated continuously since then.
The Associations committee meets monthly. The annual general meeting is normally held in September and is open to all residents. The Association also maintains contact with other residents’ associations in the area, and is part of other residential networks.
Since then the association has been active in many activities such as:
- Environmental and public amenity matters,
- Roads and traffic issues,
- Looking into matters of planning as they affect our area
- Liaising with Gardai in order to keep our area safe & secure
- attending regular meetings with Dublin City Council
- Representing the concerns of residents during the proposed development of Metro North
- Encouraging residents to be proactive in maintaining the area, looking after grass verges and holding local clean up initiatives
- It has regular contact with public representatives and local officials and makes representations as required.
